Boleo technical report delayed

Keywords: Tags  Baja Mining, Boleo, copper

LONDON — SRK Consulting has informed beleaguered Baja Mining Corp. that it cannot provide a draft of the updated technical report on the company’s Boleo copper project in Baja California Sur, Mexico, as previously expected.

Discussions between the mining department of Minera y Metalurgica del Boleo SA de CV (MMB), which runs Boleo, its geotechnical and mining consultants, and MMB’s senior lenders on key aspects of the mine plan have caused the delay.

The parties are still evaluating methods to optimize underground mining and determine the production levels from underground compared with open pit, which could affect mining costs and project economics.

Baja has told SRK to suspend further work on the technical report until those matters have been resolved.
