NEW YORK — St. Louis-based Doe Run Co. has promoted Dave Olkkonen to general manager of subsidiary Fabricated Products Inc. (FPI), effective Sept. 15.

Olkkonen will work alongside outgoing FPI general manager Bill Wold, who is retiring from his position effective Dec. 31, through the end of the year.

Olkkonen previously served as Doe Run’s manager of research and development, as well as mine superintendent for several of Doe Run’s underground lead mines under its Southeast Missouri mining and milling division.

“Dave has more than 20 years of experience in the mining industry,” Doe Run chief operating officer Aaron Miller said in a statement. “He has impacted our operations in a positive way by helping us develop breakthrough new technologies. We look forward to seeing more to come in this new position.”

Olkkonen will head FPI and its two locations from the company’s facility in Casa Grande, Ariz., which specializes in lead metal fabrication, lead shielding, lead anodes and specialty extruded shapes. The company’s Vancouver, Wash., plant produces lead oxide for lead-acid batteries.
