DLA offers ferrochrome for sale

NEW YORK — DLA Strategic Materials is offering more than 1,508 short tons of high-carbon ferrochrome and 1.68 million pounds of low-carbon ferrochrome.

The high-carbon ferrochrome consists of five separate lots at the agency’s depot in Warren, Ohio. The smallest lot is 45.16 short tons produced in South Africa, while the largest lot is 500 short tons also from South Africa. Only bids for the entire quantity of each lot will be accepted, the Fort Belvoir, Va.-based agency said.

The low-carbon material consists of 840,000 pounds of 0.13-percent-carbon ferrochrome and 840,000 pounds of 0.15-percent-carbon ferrochrome, both at DLA’s Point Pleasant, W.Va., depot.

Bidding closes Aug. 21 at 11:30 a.m. eastern time.

David J. Joseph Co., Medima LLC and Veritas Alloys & Metals LLC purchased a combined 420 short tons of low-carbon ferrochrome and 605 short tons of high-carbon ferrochrome for $1.74 million in July (, Aug. 6).
