Outokumpu raises stainless surcharges

NEW YORK — Outokumpu Stainless USA LLC has raised its surcharges for most grades of stainless steel for September.

The Calvert, Ala.-based company set its September surcharges at 65.19 cents per pound for Type 304 material, up 2.6 percent from 63.55 cents this month; 44.07 cents per pound for Type 201, up 1.5 percent from 43.44 cents; and 89.12 cents per pound for Type 316, up 1 percent from 88.25 cents. The surcharge for Type 430 material, which contains no nickel, has been decreased 1.7 percent to 22.61 cents per pound from 23.01 cents.

West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel Corp., Ghent, Ky.-based North American Stainless Inc. and Brackenridge, Pa.-based ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp. all announced similar increases in surcharges recently (, Aug 21).
