CHICAGO L.B. Foster Co. has begun delivery on its largest contract for steel grid bridge decking with the rehabilitation of the New York State Bridge Authoritys Newburgh-Beacon span, the company said Aug. 29.
Pittsburgh-based L.B. Foster is supplying 430,000 square feet of new decking manufactured at its Bedford, Pa., plant to replace the original 1980 road surface on the twin bridges southern span, connecting Orange and Dutchess counties.
"The custom engineered panels are fabricated to exacting specifications to expedite installation and lessen traffic disruption on the busy span," Don Foster, senior vice president of the companys Construction Products Group, said in a statement.
