CHICAGO — Marmon Distribution Services Inc. president Norman Gottschalk Jr. will retire Jan. 31, 2014, after 45 years with the company.

Alan Wilkinson, the company’s vice president, will succeed Gottschalk.

"It is also very comforting to know that a competent, experienced executive like Alan Wilkinson is in place to see that the team continues to grow and be successful," Gottschalk said in a statement Sept. 6.

After joining predecessor Keystone Tubular Service Corp. in 1968 as an accountant, Gottschalk held a series of positions of increasing responsibility until being promoted in 1984 to vice president/controller of Butler, Pa.-based Marmon/Keystone LLC. He was named president in 1989, a position he held until being named president of Marmon Distribution Services in 2012.

Gottschalk has served on many metals industry boards through the Metals Service Center Institute (MSCI), where he was a past chairman, and the National Association of Steel Pipe Distributors.

Wilkinson held various positions of increasing responsibility since joining Marmon/Keystone in 1978. He was named regional vice president of Marmon/Keystone in 1999 and was promoted to vice president of Marmon Distribution Services in 2012. He serves on MSCI’s board of directors.
