SÃO PAULO Brazilian ferrous scrap exports rose to a four-month high of 36,158 tonnes in August on renewed buying activity from Asia, according to data from the countrys foreign trade ministry, MDIC.
The August total was up 60.6 percent from 22,513 tonnes in July but remained 19.4 percent lower year on year.
Of the total exports in August, 9,318 tonnes went to Indonesia, 5,746 tonnes to South Korea and 5,020 tonnes to India, MDIC said. Vietnam and Taiwan came next on the list, with 3,660 tonnes and 3,331 tonnes, respectively.
Brazils scrap exports from January to August this year totaled 276,020 tonnes, up 3 percent from 267,937 tonnes a year earlier.
