PITTSBURGH — Ben Wylie and Dustin Selzer, two southeastern scrap industry veterans, have joined forces and opened a metals recycling facility in Chester, S.C.

Masters Recycling LLC entered the market five weeks ago on a six-acre site that has two rail spurs and is served by two railroads, vice president of operations Wylie told AMM.

Wylie is a former employee of Gastonia, N.C.-based State Line Scrap Metal Recycling Inc., while Selzer previously worked at Florence, S.C.-based Coastal Recycling Inc.

The partners started upgrading the 170,000-square-foot former manufacturing facility nearly eight months ago. A 70-foot truck scale has been installed and there are plans to buy a baler.

"We are really pleased with the way it is going. (We) are buying 50 to 60 tons every day," Wylie said, adding that the material is being shipped to a larger metals recycler with processing capabilities.
