NEW YORK Alter Trading Corp. will purchase recycler Columbus Metal Industries LLC, the scrap metal processor and broker said.
The addition of the Columbus, Neb.-based companys recycling locations will make Alter Trading the largest metals recycling company in Nebraska, with 10 collection and processing locations in the state and 51 metals recycling facilities in the United States that serve residential, commercial and industrial clients, the company said Sept. 27.
"The addition of the six (Columbus Metals Industries) facilities strategically located along the I-80 corridor, including its two shredders (Columbus and Kearney, Neb.), two auto parts facilities and its strong team of dedicated employees, make this an excellent addition to Alters western region," Alter Trading president and chief operating officer Jay Robinovitz said in a statement.
"This combination of two strong companies expands our processing capabilities and will allow Alter to offer superior service to customers throughout the region and beyond," Mike Vail, Alters vice president of operations, said.
Following the acquisition, St. Louis-based Alter will have 1,268 employees and five trading offices in eight states, along with its representative sales office in Hong Kong.
