NEW YORK — Amerigo Resources Ltd.’s Klaus Zeitler, currently president and chief executive officer, will serve as chairman and chief executive officer effective Oct. 1.

Robert Henderson will assume Zeitler’s role as president, while retaining his current position as chief operating officer. Henderson was chosen to lead as president as he has taken on more responsibility with the Vancouver, British Columbia-based company’s Chilean properties, Amerigo said Sept. 30.

Current chairman Robert Gayton will serve as lead independent director.

Amerigo produces copper and molybdenum in partnership with Corporación Nacional del Cobre de Chile (Codelco), Santiago.

The company suffered a wall slide in April at its Colihues Mine in Chile, impacting production and driving Amerigo to a second-quarter net loss of $837,000 (, Aug. 7).
