LOS ANGELES RathGibson LLC has added titanium tubing for the industrial market to its product line.
The company, a unit of Janesville, Wis.-based Precision Castparts Corp., said it is producing the commercially pure (CP) welded tubing at its North Long Branch, N.J.-based facility.
Greg Jones, director of chemical and petroleum industry sales, said RathGibsons experience with the power generation and chemical processing industries "led us to the realization that many situations require the strength and durability that only titanium can provide."
The tubing, made primarily from CP Grade 2 titanium, is designed for heat exchangers, condensers and chemical processing applications in the chemical processing and power generation industries, where its corrosion resistance and comparatively high strength-to-weight ratio come into play. RathGibson can also produce the tubing in CP Grades 12 and 16, Jones said.
