LONDON Aluminium Bahrain BSC (Alba) saw sales rise in the third quarter after disappointing results in the first half of the year on low prices.
Sales volumes totaled 227,758 tonnes, up 4.2 percent from 218,507 tonnes in the same period last year, largely due to a 14.7-percent jump in September to 94,000 tonnes. Third-quarter production rose 4.7 percent to 230,058 tonnes from 219,681 tonnes a year ago.
"Alba continues to push the envelope to maximize sales and cash flow," chief executive officer Tim Murray said in a statement. "Even during this difficult LME environment, Alba continues to find ways to grow while competitors are reducing production."
Sales for the first nine months of 2013 rose 2.7 percent from a year earlier to 682,188 tonnes, while production increased 3 percent to 682,785 tonnes in the same comparison.
