The Aluminum Association has named Noranda Aluminum Holding
Corp. president and chief executive officer Layle "Kip" Smith
as its new chairman.
Smith was nominated
and approved at the Arlington, Va.-based
associations fall meeting in Farmington, Pa. He
succeeds Patrick Franc, president and chief executive officer
of Louisville, Ky.-based Tri-Arrows Aluminum Inc.
"It has been a
pleasure working on behalf of the industry and the
association," Franc said. "As I step down, I am confident in
the industry, where its going and the new blood, the
changeover that weve had."
Smith was succeeded as vice chairman of the Aluminum
Association by Garney B. Scott, president of Waverly,
Tenn.-based Scepter Inc.
