NEW YORK SSAB
Americas has raised base transaction prices for its steel plate
products by a minimum of $30 per ton effective immediately, the
company said in an Oct. 16 letter to customers.
The increase applies
to all new orders for non-contract, as-rolled carbon and
high-strength low-alloy, normalized plate, alloy plate
including quenched and tempered, cut-to-length plate greater
than 72 inches wide and hot-rolled coil greater than 72 inches
The move by the Lisle, Ill.-based steel producer comes just
days after Evraz Inc. North America said it would idle its
Claymont, Del., facility, which sources said would likely give
other producers a reason to boost prices in a flat market (
amm.com, Oct. 14).
