NEW YORK — Benteler Steel/Tube GmbH has contracted Italy’s Danieli & C. Officine Meccaniche SpA to supply a 4.5-inch, 320,000-tonne-per-year "turnkey" seamless tube mill for the German company’s oil country tubular goods (OCTG) facility at the Port of Caddo-Bossier in Louisiana.

The mill is designed for an annual capacity of 320,000 tonnes per year and will produce seamless tubes according to American Petroleum Institute (API) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards, according to engineering firm Friedrich Kocks GmbH & Co. KG.

Production at the new facility is scheduled for the second half of 2015.

Benteler officially broke ground on the new plant in mid-September ( amm.com, Sept. 17).
