LONDON Global crude steel production increased 6.1 percent year on year to 132.5 million tonnes in September, according to the World Steel Association (WorldSteel).
Crude steel production in China, the worlds largest steel-producing nation, rose 11 percent year on year to 65.4 million tonnes.
U.S. crude steel output increased 6.3 percent to 7.24 million tonnes in the same comparison, boosting the North American tally 3.3 percent to nearly 9.9 million tonnes, WorldSteel said.
Crude steel production rose only marginally in the European Union, up 0.3 percent year on year to 14.3 million tonnes in September, while that in the Commonwealth of Independent States increased 5 percent year on year to almost 8.8 million tonnes.
