NEW YORK — Ukraine’s Interpipe Group is targeting North America, among other areas, to sell steel billet from its new Interpipe Steel mill in Dnepropetrovsk.

"Interpipe defines North America (the United States, Canada and Mexico), Europe and (the) Middle East as the key markets for steel billet sales for ... 2014," a company spokeswoman told AMM via e-mail.

The mill’s production in the first nine months of 2013 was 900,000 tons, with its annual capacity expected to reach 1.32 million tons, the company said.

"Interpipe Steel is now reaching its designed production rates and can not only provide high-quality steel billets to the company’s production facilities, but can also start deliveries to other customers," chief commercial officer Fadi Hraibe said.

The mill has already shipped trial lots of billet to railway product makers in Spain, the Czech Republic and Germany, as well as a Ukrainian axle producer, the company said.

Interpipe opened the mill in the middle of last year, according to its website, with the company’s own pipe and wheel production facilities expected to be major consumers of billet produced at the facility.
