Balawajder joins USS exec team

NEW YORK — U.S. Steel Corp. has appointed Charles G. Balawajder as vice president and chief information officer effective Nov. 1, the company said Oct. 31.

Balawajder succeeds David H. Lohr, who is retiring Nov. 30, and will report to U.S. Steel executive vice president and chief financial officer David B. Burritt. He was previously vice president of information technology and chief information officer at UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a division of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies Corp.

Balawajder will be responsible for the global oversight of the company’s business services organization, as well as enterprise resource planning, the Pittsburgh-based steelmaker said.
