CHICAGO — American Metals Corp., a unit of Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., has bought Haskins Steel Co. Inc. for an undisclosed sum

Founded in 1955, Spokane, Wash-based Haskins processes and distributes mostly carbon steel and aluminum products for customers in the Pacific Northwest. Its in-house processing capabilities include shearing, sawing, burning and forming.

Haskins will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of American Metals, but current managers will remain in place.

"Haskins will enhance American Metals’ penetration into this geographic area where American Metals did not previously have a physical presence," Reliance chairman and chief executive officer David H. Hannah said in a statement Nov. 1.

Haskins recorded net sales of $31.5 million last year.
