PITTSBURGH — The city council in Omaha, Neb., will hold a public hearing Nov. 5 to decide whether to issue Cooter Enterprises a special-use permit allowing it to conduct scrap and salvage services on a parcel across the street from its existing location.

The company plans to construct a new building on the site and has a soft target opening set for the end of the first quarter of 2014.

Cooter Enterprises, which purchases and recycles automobiles, auto parts and nonferrous metals, said it applied for the permit last year to acquire additional space because it has grown substantially since its founding in 2007 (, Nov. 8).

The project has been held up because the city required additional paperwork, owner Val Gomez told AMM.
