NEW YORK — SSAB Americas has raised minimum base prices on its plate products by $20 per ton ($1 per hundredweight) effective immediately, it said in a Nov. 8 letter to customers.

The Lisle, Ill.-based steelmaker said the increase would affect all new orders for non-contract, as-rolled carbon and high-strength low alloy, normalized plate, alloy plate including quenched and tempered, cut-to-length plate less than 72 inches wide and hot-rolled coil greater than 72 inches wide.

"SSAB continues to monitor market conditions in order to better realize the value our products bring to our customers," the company said.

The move comes one day after Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corp. increased base prices on its plate products by $40 per ton ($2 per cwt) (amm.com, Nov. 7).
