NEW YORK — Nominations are now being accepted for AMM’s fifth annual Awards for Steel Excellence.

The global awards program recognises outstanding achievements by companies working in and for the steel industry.

"Last year’s awards saw a record number of high-caliber nominations, representing many facets of the industry," AMM senior vice president, publisher and editor-in-chief David Brooks said in a statement.

The fifth annual Awards for Steel Excellence will feature 15 categories that include the steel industry’s primary components – producers, pipe and tube companies, scrap providers and key suppliers – as well as critical initiatives within the industry.

New this year are categories that recognize excellence by providers of financial and information technology services.

"With the addition of these new categories dedicated to critical suppliers to steel companies, we are seeking an even broader base of firms that are directly involved in steel production and distribution as well as those who provide key support services," Brooks said.

All nominations are evaluated by a prestigious panel of industry experts who use a point-based qualitative approach to determine the winner in each category. The judging process is in full compliance with Euromoney/Institutional Investor guidelines and standards to ensure integrity and objectivity.

Nominations will be accepted until March 17, 2014. Finalists in each category will be announced in May 2014, and award winners will be announced at the Steel Awards Dinner on June 17, 2014 in New York City in conjunction with the global Steel Success Strategies XXIX Conference presented by AMM and World Steel Dynamics.
