CHICAGO — Nucor Corp. is raising its raw materials surcharge for special bar quality products by $1.50 per hundredweight ($30 per ton) effective Dec. 1, according to a Nov. 11 letter to customers.

Customers will pay a surcharge of $13 per cwt ($260 per ton) for December, the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker’s highest surcharge all year.

The change reflects AMM’s latest assessment of consumer buying prices for No. 1 busheling in Chicago, which rose to $430 per ton for November from $400 the previous month (, Nov. 7).
