NEW YORK Ulbrich Precision Flat Wire Inc. will invest $5 million to expand its Westminster, S.C., facility, building new manufacturing space and installing additional rolling equipment.
The expansion, slated to begin in spring 2014, will target key markets for precision flat and fine wire products, as well as photovoltaic ribbon used in the manufacturing of solar modules.
The North Haven, Conn.-based company, which has seen strong demand related to its products for use in solar modules, said it has been planning a series of investments at its Westminster facility.
"Were adding jobs and equipment. This is part of a string of expansions. We purchased a building four years ago across the street. The county has been very helpful," chief executive officer Chris Ulbrich told AMM, noting that the company is receiving tax incentives to expand in Oconee County.
"The states attractive tax incentive and ongoing commitment to business and manufacturing was a key factor in the decision to expand our wire operations in Westminster," Ulbrich Precision financial manager Dan Day said. "These incentives are critical in our ability to grow and remain competitive in a global economy."
Ulbrich Precision is a division of Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals Inc. The company manufactures precision stainless steel wire, carbon steel wire, and special metals strip and wire for the aerospace, automotive, energy, medical, chemical processing and electronics industry.
