NEW YORK — ATI Allegheny Ludlum Corp. will increase its base prices across most commodity-grade stainless steel products beginning Jan. 13, the company said in a Dec. 19 letter to customers.

The increase applies to all 200- and 300-series grades, as well as ATI’s 430-grade alloy material.

Cold-rolled sheet and strip, hot-rolled and cold-rolled tubular quality sheet and strip, bright annealed and tempered sheet and strip, and plate-mill plate products will all be affected, the subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Technologies inc. said.

The increase will be achieved by reducing the functional discount by 2 percentage points, it said, adding that "the polish discount on all grades will be lowered by 10 percent."

West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel Corp., Ghent, Ky.-based North American Stainless Inc. and Calvert, Ala.-based Outokumpu Stainless USA LLC have not yet released price increases for January.
