PITTSBURGH — An Indianapolis recycler that suffered a Dec. 18 fire expects rebuilding to take four to six months, but doesn’t foresee the situation impacting its operations.

The blaze at All Pro Scrap Inc. started when a conveyor into a metals shredder caught fire.

About 70 firefighters arrived at the scene that morning and had the flames under control within two hours, an Indianapolis Fire Department spokeswoman said. Damages are estimated at $750,000.

"We are fortunate that everyone walked out of the building and no firefighters were hurt," owner Danny Fey told AMM. "Unfortunately the damage was already done by the time they got here."

The structure’s roof collapsed and the building is a total loss. Fey said that his South Bend, Ind., location can pick up the slack during the rebuilding process. The company is making arrangements with its customer base.
