AK Steel’s Kaloski slated to retire Jan. 31

NEW YORK — AK Steel Corp. executive vice president and operating officer John F. Kaloski will retire effective Jan. 31, the steelmaker announced Dec. 19.

Kaloski, a 40-year veteran of the steel industry, joined West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel in 2002. He has held senior positions at the former National Steel Corp. and Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel Corp. His responsibilities have included AK Steel’s engineering, manufacturing planning, information technology and quality assurance operations, as well as its interests in iron ore and metallurgical coal operations, the company said.

Kirk W. Reich, vice president of procurement and supply chain management, will assume Kaloski’s manufacturing planning, information technology and metallurgical coal responsibilities.

Keith J. Howell, vice president of operations, will assume responsibility for quality assurance and occupation safety and health operations.

Maurice A. Reed, vice president of engineering, raw materials and energy, will assume responsibility for AK Steel’s interest in iron ore operation Magnetation LLC.
