NEW YORK — Nucor Corp. is raising base prices for its steel sheet products effective immediately, the company said in a Dec. 23 letter to customers.

Hot-rolled coil is now $35 per hundredweight ($700 per ton), while cold-rolled and galvanized sheet are $40.50 per cwt ($810 per ton) due to higher raw material prices, the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker said.

U.S. Steel Corp., Pittsburgh, raised its steel sheet prices by $20 per ton ($1 per cwt) last week, a move widely expected to be followed by other producers (, Dec. 16).
