PITTSBURGH Action Metals Recycling Inc., owned by Todd Fingerman, is seeking to open a metals recycling facility in Des Plaines, Ill.
The Des Plaines zoning board has already recommended the facility be approved for a conditional use permit. It goes before the council in January, and Fingerman said he is targeting a mid-February opening.
The 20,000-square-foot building sits on a 1-acre site. All recycling activities will be conducted indoors, and the initial focus will be to develop a retail customer base. The facility will accept ferrous and nonferrous material, as well as appliances.
"I selected Des Plaines because I am familiar with the scrap flows and like that its located near expressways and Chicago," he said.
Fingerman was president of Premier Metals Recycling, which was sold to Universal Scrap Metals Inc. (USM) in 2012 (amm.com, Feb. 24, 2012). Following the sale, Fingerman joined USM as director of copper processing.
