Inc. North America increased its minimum prices on plate
products by $20 per ton effective Jan. 3.
The increase applied
to all carbon, high-strength low-alloy, normalized, and
quenched and tempered products, it said in a letter to
steelmaker did not give a reason for the increase, and market
participants said it wasnt immediately clear whether it
was a new attempt to boost prices or following increases by
competitors in late December (
amm.com, Dec. 13).
In October, the company announced that it would idle its
Claymont, Del., plate facility due to subdued market conditions
and high levels of imports (
amm.com, Oct. 14).
