LONDON The London Metal Exchange has named Stuart Sloan and Catherine Lester as senior members of the management team, responsible for operations and finance, respectively.
Sloan, who has been appointed chief operating officer and head of strategy, will join the LME from NYSE Euronext Inc., where he was head of strategic development and chief of staff for NYSE Liffe.
The chief operating role at the LME was previously performed by Diarmuid OHegarty, in addition to his duties as deputy chief executive officer. OHegarty announced his resignation from the LME in August and will leave in February (amm.com, Aug. 27).
"Stuart brings with him extensive knowledge and experience of markets and their infrastructure through his 20 years at the NYSE, and is an excellent addition to our senior management team," LME chief executive officer Garry Jones said in a statement.
Lester, who joins from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, will serve as chief financial officer of the LME, reporting to Jones and Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd. (HKEx) chief financial officer Paul Kennedy, the LME said Jan. 6.
Lester will take over from interim chief financial officer Matt Cowan.
"Catherine adds substantial financial and management expertise to the LME senior team, and will be a key member of the LME executive committee," Jones said.
