NEW YORK — Timken Co. will increase base prices for noncontract orders of special bar quality (SBQ) products 6.5 inches and smaller by $30 per ton ($1.50 per hundredweight) effective with shipments beginning March 10.

Raw material surcharges will remain in effect, the Canton, Ohio-based company said in a Feb. 20 press release.

The move follows Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corp.’s announcement that it would raise transactional base pricing on all carbon and alloy SBQ rolled bar products by $30 per ton effective with shipments March 10 (amm.com, Feb. 10).
