NEW YORK — A worker at Arkansas Steel Associates LLC’s facility in Newport, Ark., was killed Feb. 19 when molten steel spilled from a kettle at the facility, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

"It appears that as the kettle was being moved the cable on the crane system broke," the sheriff’s office said in a press release. The kettle fell, spilling molten steel that resulted in the death of 49-year-old Michael E. Meyers.
