TUCSON, Ariz. Former INTL FCStone Inc. trader Marsha Cooperider has joined Grupo BTG Pactual SAs physical base metals team, people familiar with the matter told AMM.
Cooperider, who joined the company May 1, is based in St. Louis and reports to James Mammone, global head of physical base metals.
It is the latest in a series of hires by the Brazilian bank, including former Noble Group Ltd. chief executive officer Ricardo Leiman. In December it hired the majority of INTL FCStones physical base metals team, led by Mammone (amm.com, Dec. 23).
As U.S. and European banks exit commodities amid increased regulatory and political scrutiny (amm.com, Jan. 15), BTG Pactual has moved to actively beef up its activities in commodities over the past year. The bank avoids oversight by the U.S. Federal Reserve because it does not operate any commercial banks in the United States.
