NEW YORK — SSAB Americas has increased plate prices by $30 to $50 per ton ($1.50 to $2.50 per hundredweight), depending on the product.

A minimum $30-per-ton increase will be applied to noncontract as-rolled mill plate, cut-to-length plate and hot-rolled coils, while a minimum $50-per-ton increase will apply to noncontract normalized and quenched and tempered plate, the Lisle, Ill.-based steelmaker said in a letter to customers June 17.

While the increase is effective immediately with new orders, it also applies to existing orders scheduled to ship on or after the week of Aug. 31, SSAB said.

SSAB’s increase comes after similar price moves by Chicago-based ArcelorMittal USA LLC and Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor Corp. (amm.com, June 12).
