PITTSBURGH — Tenenbaum Recycling Group LLC (TRG) has enlarged its Arkansas footprint and expanded into Missouri with the purchase of two scrapyards.

The North Little Rock, Ark.-based metal recycler finalized a deal June 18 to acquire USA Metal Recycling LLC’s facilities in Fayetteville, Ark., and Reeds Spring, Mo. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"The acquisition of these thriving businesses guarantees us additional feed stock to further supply our northwest Arkansas shredding operation and to enhance our ability to supply volumes of high-grade metal to our customers," TRG president Jack Grundfest said in a statement.

The Fayetteville facility sits on 4.5 acres, while the Reeds Springs operation rests on four acres. Material procured from the yards will be processed at the company’s Roger, Ark., auto shredder or its nonferrous facilities. TRG has dispatched its own management to oversee the yards.

"The acquisition of these yards is an exciting development for TRG, particularly for our retail customers and dealers in northern Arkansas and southern Missouri," Grundfest said.

Family-owned TRG was founded in 1890 and counts about 300 employees at its facilities in North Little Rock, Fayetteville, Rogers, Harrison, Hot Springs, Jonesboro and Berryville—all in Arkansas and Reeds Spring. USA Metal Recycling operates a shredder in Lowell, Ark., and has seven recycling facilities in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
