CHICAGO — U.S. Steel Corp. has named Colleen M. Darragh as acting controller, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Darragh will serve as the principal accounting officer for the Pittsburgh-based steelmaker until a successor is elected or appointed, according to the July 22 filing.

She most recently served as general manager of benefits and account and analysis, and assistant controller, U.S. Steel said. Darragh joined the company in 2006 as director of external reporting and has also worked as executive director of finance at U.S. Steel’s former operations in Serbia.

The company had previously announced the retirement of vice president and controller Gregory A. Zovko effective June 30 (amm.com, June 5).

U.S. Steel’s Serbian operations, now known as Železara Smederevo d.o.o., were sold back to the Serbian government in January 2012 for the equivalent of $1 after being acquired in September 2003 (amm.com, July 8).
