NEW YORK Olympic Steel Inc. has appointed Andrew Markowitz to the newly created position of vice president of sales and marketing for its specialty metals division, it said Aug. 12.
Markowitz founded Integrity Stainless Corp., which was acquired by Olympic Steel in 2010 (amm.com, March 31, 2011) and operates as a subsidiary.
The acquisition has "significantly impacted the participation of the specialty metals division at Olympic Steel through flat bar and strip coil contract accounts," the Bedford Heights, Ohio-based company said.
"Andy has proven his ability to drive profitable growth and penetrate new markets, which is consistent with Olympic Steels long-term strategy," Andrew Greiff, president of the specialty metals division, said in a statement. "Our specialty metals division, which includes stainless steel as well as the aluminum products, is a key strategic growth area."
Jerrold Gideon also was appointed to the newly created position of general manager of Streetsboro, Ohio-based Integrity Stainless, the company said.
