China's crude steel output hits record high in June


China’s crude steel output rose to a new high in June, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in mid-July.

Chinese mills produced 73.23 million tonnes of crude steel in June, up 5.7 percent from the prior year, and a gain of 1.3 percent from May’s 72.26 million tonnes.

The previous record high of 72.78 million tonnes was recorded in April. China’s daily crude steel output also rose in June to an all-time high of 2.44 million tonnes, the NBS said.

In the first half of the year, Chinese mills produced 419.75 million tonnes of crude steel, up 4.6 percent year on year, according to the bureau.
