The African Iron Ore Market has seen a boom in the past few years, with hundreds of international mining firms and junior miners alike vying for a portion of the largely untapped sources of iron ore that the continent has to offer.  Being a key strategic material for industrialisation, Africa has welcomed this interest and growth with open arms, providing great opportunities for substantial development within the iron ore market, and ensuring new supply chains for decades to come.

However, along with the promising growth forecasts and the potential for a substantial return on investment, there are key challenges for the African Iron Ore marketplace. The large scale infrastructure requirements to get these projects off the ground, a strong need for new sources of finance, and questions over what effect these new iron ore products will have on the international balance of supply and demand make African Iron Ore an important and compelling topic within the global iron ore industry.

Metal Bulletin Events’ African Iron Ore Conference will focus specifically on topics that affect miners in Africa, and give an ideal forum for international investors and steel mills to learn about opportunities and products coming out of the region.  From the political to the strategic, the conference will host the key players in the marketplace, as well as government officials and representatives from Greenfield projects.

Key topics to be discussed:

Iron Ore is a key material for economic growth – how much are emerging markets set to consume in the near future?

Successfully managing communication between government and private enterprise.

Will the effect of slow uptake and completion of infrastructure projects limit miners’ ability to export at full capacity?

Tackling the environmental, social and political issues for neighbouring communities of mines and infrastructure projects.

Can the industry provide the workforce needed to support expansion projects in the medium to long-term?

Innovative methods for raising capital: examining the broad spectrum of solutions available to finance large mining projects.

Key note speeches from government mining ministers outlining clear policies and guidelines.
