Cost is steel's main advantage over aluminum, according to a survey of Steel Success Strategies XXIX delegates. The two industries continue to battle to be the lightweight material of choice for automotive makers.
Delegates also said the booming oil and gas sector is a main driver for change in the steel market, followed by high-strength, lightweight steel production. However, competition with foreign imports and overcapacity continue to challenge the industry.
