Chinese scrap imports up 28% in September

Chinese ferrous scrap imports jumped by 28 percent month on month in September to 1.3 million tonnes, but market sources said the import trade has since tailed off.

The latest monthly tally takes ferrous scrap imports so far this year to 11.2 million tonnes, nearly five times the level in the corresponding period last year.
