Japanese steel exports rise 4.9% in Sept.

Japan exported 3.58 million tonnes of steel in September, up 4.9 percent from August and 4.3 percent ahead of the previous high in September 2008.

Surprisingly, exports of semifinished products reached 690,305 tonnes, a 14-percent increase from the previous month and 74 percent higher than a year earlier, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation.
