Beta Steel Corp. executives expect melt shop operations to restart by the end of the week following a late Saturday night explosion that caused minor injuries to four workers.

A slag explosion occurred in the plant's melt shop around 10:15 p.m. on Nov. 14, a spokesman for the Portage, Ind.-based company said.
