U.S. raw steel output totaled 1,715,000 tons last week, up 1.9 percent from 1,683,000 tons the previous week, as mills operated at an average capability utilization rate of 70.9 percent. It was the highest weekly total since mid-October 2008, when U.S. production totaled 1,744,000 tons.
