Steel Hall of Fame Launches
PITTSBURGH American Metal Market, the leading publication for the metals industry has revealed the inaugural class of its Steel Hall of Fame.
The AMM Steel Hall of Fame was created to celebrate the achievements of some of the steel industrys most notable contributors and serves to celebrate the publications 130th anniversary.
The first group of inductees was elected by an eight-member panel of experts, including prominent industry historians, academics, executives and AMMs own Executive Editor.
A two round voting process resulted in eight candidates receiving the 50% of the votes that are necessary for election. Another 18 candidates were shortlisted but failed to gather the requisite support.

The inductees represent five different countries and made their combined contributions over a period of nearly 150 years. They include technologists, and pioneering business men and executives. None of the eight are still living, with Koreas Park having died just days after voting was concluded.
The eight inaugural members of the AMM steel Hall of Fame represent the very best of this great industry, said David Brooks, Publisher of American Metal Market. They are drawn from the integrated industry and from the mini mill sector, and to review their work is to get an abbreviated history of the development of the steel industry over the past century and a half.
We are proud to honor them and will further celebrate their achievements at the Steel Success Strategies conference in New York in June. At that event we will also recognize the next round of inductees - the Class of 2012 - which will be elected in the coming months.
