Steel Hall of Fame Class of 2012 Announced

PITTSBURGH – American Metal Market, the leading publication for the metals industry, has revealed the 2012 class of its Steel Hall of Fame.  The five inductees join eight members of the Inaugural Class which was elected late last year.

A two round voting process resulted in five candidates receiving the 50% of the votes that are necessary for election.

The 2012 AMM Hall of Fame class:

Thomas C. Graham
Luigi Danieli
John B. Tytus
Irving Rossi
Fth. William Hogan

While the Inaugural Class included several steel pioneers from the 19th century, the latest group is more contemporary. It features significant technologists like Danieli, Tytus and Rossi, a leading economist in Hogan and executive and turnaround specialist Graham.

Graham is also the first living person elected to the Hall. He will be formally inducted during AMM’s Awards for Steel Excellence and Hall of Fame dinner that takes place on June 19th, 2012 in New York City during the Steel Success Strategies conference. The other members of the Class of 2012 and of the Inaugural Class will also be celebrated with tributes made by leading members of the steel industry including Daniel Dimicco, Chairman & CEO of Nucor, John Surma, Chairman and CEO of US steel and
Jim Wainscott, Chairman and CEO, of AK Steel.

“The Class of 2012 adds a modern feel and real quality to the Hall of Fame. They are drawn from different parts of the industry and contributed in very different ways but are united by leadership, innovation and a passion for the steel industry,” said David Brooks, Publisher of  American Metal Market. “We are proud to honor them and look forward to celebrating their achievements and those of the Inaugural Class at the Awards dinner during Steel Success Strategies conference in New York in June. “

The AMM Steel Hall of Fame was created to celebrate the achievements of some of the steel industry’s most notable contributors and serves to celebrate the publication’s 130th anniversary.   The 2012 inductees were elected by a nine-member panel of experts, including prominent industry historians, academics, executives and AMM’s own Executive Editor.
