American Metal Market, the leading independent supplier of market intelligence and pricing on the North American metals industries announces the launch of a new US Midwest Ferrous Scrap Index. This new index builds upon the publications extensive experience in reporting scrap prices across a wide range of grades and locations and has been developed to provide a fair, transparent and objective representation of the market.
Published on
amm.com on the 10th of every month at 4PM USA EST, the US Midwest Ferrous Scrap Index will be quoted in US$ per ton, delivered to the mill, and is calculated for three grades: No. 1 Heavy Melt; No. 1 Busheling; and shredded automotive scrap.
The index was created to offer a volume weighted transaction-based evaluation of the direction of the Midwest market as a whole. The inclusion of transaction data from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Northwest Ohio generates a robust number published on a pre-established date each month, explained AMMs Senior Vice President and Editor-In-Chief David Brooks.
