Pittsburgh, PA - June 19, 2013 - American Metal Market, a premium source of pricing and news for the metals industry, has announced the members of the AMM Steel Hall of Fame Class of 2013. The inductees are the third class to be accepted into the Steel Hall of Fame, which was created to highlight the entrepreneurs, executive leaders, and top influencers in the history of steel. Handpicked by the Hall of Fame committee, this year’s class was recognized on June 18th during the AMM Awards for Steel Excellence Dinner taking place on the second evening of the Steel Success Strategies Conference.

Cecilia Danieli, better known as “Italy’s Lady of Steel” to her contemporaries, is the first woman to hold a place in the Steel Hall of Fame. Danieli was at the reins in the early 1980’s when her family’s company had either engineered or equipped half of the world’s 250 mini-mills.

Also joining the ranks are Tadeusz Sendzimir, a true innovator of his time who introduced the continuous process for galvanizing steel and owns 120 patents related to mining, metallurgy and steelmaking. Since the founding of his company, Sendzimir has overseen the construction of 265 cluster mills, 55 Z-high mills and 16 planetary mills in 43 countries.

Keith Busse, the youngest inductee to the Hall of Fame, is a major player in the flat- rolled mill business whose accomplishments include building Nucor’s Crawfordsville facility and forming SDI which he led to becoming the nation’s fifth largest producer of carbon steel products.

“Each member of the Steel Hall of Fame Class of 2013 has helped frame the course of history with their momentous accomplishments. We are proud to be recognizing these individuals with their induction into this year's class,” said David Brooks, AMM’s Publisher.

Each year the latest class is announced and honored at the AMM Awards for Steel Excellence Dinner held in New York City as part of the Steel Success Strategies Conference. Please contact Mary Connors at 646-274-6250 for information about sponsoring or attending next year's dinner.
