Fastmarkets AMM proposes amendments to its weekly domestic hot-dipped galvanized steel sheet assessment.
The changes would affect the US domestic hot-dipped galvanized coil price assessment, sometimes known as the “all-in” price. The changes would bring the hot-dipped galvanized coil specifications in line with the hot-dipped galvanized base price specifications, which changed as a result of the flat-steel amendments announced on Monday September 28.
The proposed amendments to the all-in coil price - currently named steel hot-dipped galvanized steel coil, fob mill US, $/cwt - are as follows:
The 30-day consultation period for this proposal begins on Thursday October 1 and will end on October 30. An update to this notice will be published on November 2. Subject to market feedback, the proposed changes would take place beginning with the weekly assessment on November 5.
- Change the name and specifications of the assessed item to specify that the coil is produced from cold-rolled coil base.
- Change the quantity to a minimum of 50 tons from the current minimum of 500 tons.
- Change the location to fob US mill, excluding Pacific states (Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska and Hawaii) as defined by the US Census Bureau. The current location is set as fob Midwest mill.
Fastmarkets AMM has no financial interest in the level or direction of the price assessment.
